BUILDING YOUR “TWITTER PACK”
- Go to Twitter.com and set up a new account. Setup background, avatar, bio, and all other “Settings”. You will be creating 5 total Twitter accounts. IMPORTANT: Never create more than 1 Twitter account per hour…they will delete your account if you create too many in a short period of time.
- It is also recommended that you set up a Facebook account. We’ll cover Facebook in a future module, but for now, set one up right away.
- The object of this module is to set everything up for FREE, and start marketing your links for free. This module is for setup. Future training will give you more information on how to grow your accounts & marketing strategically.
TWITTER ACCOUNT SETUP MODULE
-->
TWITTER
SETUP STEP #1 – TWITTER & GMAIL
Open two browser windows and go to Gmail.com,
and Twitter.com
Open at least 5 new unique Twitter accounts. My suggestion
is to use “themes” as follows:
FooballBob Theme:
NFL Teams
KitchenKatie Theme:
Cooking
FishyFred Theme:
Outdoor sports
- As you select a name, and Twitter indicates your Twitter name is available, you should immediately select a gmail account name that is identical to the Twitter name. (FishyFred@Gmail.com)
- Be sure to setup your entire profile in Twitter, including a creative, thoughtful, yet brief “BIO”.
- Example Bio: FishyFred:
I’m an outdoor enthusiast and a
world ranked bass fisherman. Also a
stand-up comedian on the weekends.
- If you don’t already have a “Capture” page , you should insert the following address for your website in your Twitter profile:
http://MyShoppingGenie.com/YOUR UNIQUE WEB
ADDRESS
TWITTER
SETUP STEP #2 - AVATARS
Once the Gmail and Twitter accounts are activated, search
Google for images that will be eye-catching and colorful. Bright, vibrant or high-contrasting colors
stand out in the Twitter stream. The
original image that you upload to twitter should be square and a maximum size
of 700k.
- Save the avatars to a folder on your computer that you can easily find
- The avatars can be uploaded by logging into your Twitter account under “SETTINGS”.
TWITTER
SETUP STEP # 3 - TWIBACKS
Go to TwitBacks.com
and create a free custom Twitter background.
Download your new Twitback background image to the same folder that you
stored the avatar images on your harddrive.
Upload the new backgrounds to your Twitter page under
“SETTINGS”. Be sure to publish your
MyShoppingGenie website in the appropriate advertising space on the
Twitback…you’ll see what I mean when you do the setup.
TWITTER
SETUP STEP #4 – TWEETLATER
For sending future scheduled Tweets on Twitter, you can
utilize two different applications:
Go to TWAITER http://www.twaitter.com/
Go to SOCIAL OOMPH http://www.socialoomph.com/ (Get free
account only)
- Set up each Twitter account in Tweetlater and become familiar with it’s features for the procedures in next module: BIT.LY LINKS AND MESSAGES
Task Completion Checklist:
- All Gmail accounts setup for each Twitter account
- Twitter accounts all have different themes
- All Twitter accounts have complete profiles and Bio’s
- Website in profiles are CAPTURE pages
- Twitback backgrounds are all installed
- All Twitter accounts are setup in TweetLater
PHASE 2 – RSS FEEDS
& ALERTS TO YOUR TWITTER ACCOUNTS
Now that you have your Twitter accounts setup, the next few
steps are designed to broadcast your links, capture leads, and fully automate
an email campaign to convert leads to signups.
Here’s a summary of the process:
TWITTER THEMES
Themed Twitter accounts are setup
to attract people according to the theme. For instance, you’ll be able to
search Twitter for all people that like “Pets”, and engage in conversations,
post news & blog links relating to pets, and build a network of friends on
that particular Twitter page. Your
background, Twitter name, and overall theme of the automated RSS news/article
feeds into your page should make people want to follow you when they arrive at
your page for the first time.
Essentially, when you follow
someone & they arrive at your page, they will read your bio and Tweets
& find that you are interesting & share something in common with their
interests. Make the newcomer think,
“Wow,! This person enjoys all things relating to pets -----just like me, and I
find their information about pets valuable and
interesting!”
BIT.LY LINKS
Since you can only post 140
characters in Twitter, Bit.Ly shortens your internet addresses for links you
post.
One of
the most valuable features of Bit.Ly is the ability to track and count the
number of clicks you get for a particular link posted to Twitter. The “UNTITLED” link in the image to the left
is the lead capture page where prospects
enterered their Name, Email & Telephone #.
Go to http://bit.ly/
and setup a new account. Input all of
your new Twitter accounts by entering the names and passwords for each. When you create an advertisement with a
Bit.Ly link that directs to your MyShoppingGenie website, you should only use
that “Unique” Bit.Ly on one Twitter account.
IMPORTANT: If you broadcast the
same Bit.Ly across/to several different Twitter accounts, Twitter will consider
you a “spammer” and suspend your accounts.
Create a “Unique Shortened Link” for each twitter account. Take your http://MyShoppingGenie.com/UNIQUEWEBADDRESS
and create a shortened link at any of the following link shortening services:
HootSuite http://hootsuite.com//
TINY URL: http://tinyurl.com/
TWEETBURNER: http://tweetburner.com/
IS.GD http://is.gd/
BUD URL http://budurl.com/
TR.IM http://tr.im/
ADJIX http://www.adjix.com/
POURL http://poprl.com/
SNIPURL http://snipurl.com/
RSS FEEDS
RSS feeds
automatically send Tweets to your Twitter stream. The “feeds” are articles that you search the
internet for that relate to your Twitter theme.
As an example, you will set up an RSS feed to post an article that has
the word “DOG” of “PETS” every time someone writes an article about the
subject. The RSS feed will be setup to
automatically post the article title and link directly to your designated
Twitter page.
Here’s how
to start setting up your RSS feeds. Make
sure you setup a feed account for each of your new Twitter accounts:
Go to : http://twitterfeed.com/
For now, set up your TwitterFeed accounts and you will be
guided through the next steps later in this module.
ALERTS & RSS
FEED SOURCES
Google alerts allows you to search for topics that are
posted on the internet.
In addition to Google Alerts, you can go to a reliable news
website such as CNN and subscribe to their RSS feed.
